Dr Daniel Beauregard has been appointed as Selwyn’s next Senior Tutor and will take up the role in January 2027, succeeding Dr Mike Sewell who is retiring

Dr Daniel Beauregard

Daniel, a Fellow since 2000, is Director of Studies and supervisor for undergraduate Natural Sciences students, as well as Tutor for primarily Mathematics and MML undergraduates, and for the last 10 years an Admissions Tutor. He is a Teaching Fellow in the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry where he lectures on inorganic chemistry; his research has used magnetic resonance imaging to study chemical reactions as they happen, with a focus on wastewater treatment and energy storage.

He studied at the University of Auckland in New Zealand before completing his PhD at Cambridge.

His appointment follows a thorough selection process. Shortlisted candidates were interviewed by a panel and spent the day in sessions with groups of students, staff, Tutors and Directors of Studies.

Daniel said:  "I'm really looking forward to this wonderful opportunity to contribute even more to Selwyn, which is such an important part of my life.

“I aim to build on Mike's outstanding work, which has cemented Selwyn's reputation for combining academic excellence with a strong, diverse community.”

The Master, Suzanne Raine, said: "We had a strong and broad range of applicants. The process showed the quality of thought all the candidates brought to it. I'm grateful to those who put themselves forward and to everyone who gave up their time to take part.

“Daniel knows Selwyn and its students well and cares deeply about both. I look forward to working with him in the role when Mike retires.”
